A South African woman has claimed that Nigeria is safer than her country.
The Lagos-based woman, who simply identified herself as Monalisa and has been in Nigeria for five years, made the claim while speaking on Nedu Ani’s Clarity Zone Podcast.
Monalisa, in a clip of the podcast shared on X on Thursday, commended the trustworthiness of Nigerians as she recounted how she was taken home safely by an Uber driver while she was drunk.
This, according to her, is not the case in South Africa where she claimed being attacked by Uber driver when she was not even drunk.
“I’ve been here for five years and I feel like Nigeria is safer than South Africa.
“I can trust an Uber driver when I drunk here, not in South Africa. I’ve been attacked in South Africa when I was not even drunk by an Uber driver.
“But here, I’ve been drunk but I still made it home without me even knowing that I paid the Uber or whatever happens.
“So, I feel like it’s safer here, Hence I’m here for this long.” Monalisa said.
The exotic dancer further recounted how she had arrived in Nigeria following an invitation by a club owner.
She claimed being on the verge of committing suicide in South Africa before receiving the offer to come to Nigeria.
“I was at the edge of suicide. I decided not to jump from the building and said let me just text this man and see if he will take me to come and work.
“He agreed and booked my ticket within two days.” Monalisa said.
