Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri, has said the country will not lose anything as Shell Petroleum Development Company leaves the nation.
The minister made this known in an exclusive interview with ARISE News at the World Economic Forum 2024.
He stressed that no company is willing to leave Nigeria in the oil sector.
He they are rather diversifying into offshore asset.
“No company has said that look, we are leaving Nigeria totally. Most of them are interested in diverting from onshore and shallow water asset because they felt that it’s better they operate in deep offshore.
“We lose nothing. I can tell you categorically that the local players have developed capacity to acquire these assets, run them professionally and profitably” He explained.
According to him , Shell’s exit is an opportunity for the local players to take over the asset and operate them.
