A group of Shia Muslims in Nigeria has on Monday staged a protest over the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khameni.
The group, under the aegis of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) took to the street of Abuja to mourn the demise of the Iranian leader.
They could be seen with Khameni’s portraits, banners, and flags of Iran.
Some were seen dragging the United States and Israel on the floor as they marched on.
Speaking with Aljazeera, one of the protesters disclosed that they had taken to the street to mourn the demise of Khameni.
“We are here on the street to send our condolences and to show the Ummah our hearts and tears that we are very sad about the situation of this murder of Khameni.” She said.
NPO Reported that Khameni was killed on Saturday following the shelling of his office and residence during a multiple attack on Tehrain, Iran’s capital city, by the United Staes and Isarel.
His death had since sparked mixed feelings with some Iranian lauding the killing of the Supreme Leader while some others condemned the attack and vowed revenge which had started to manifest with series of airstrikes across the Gulf Region.
