He said the students blocked the access road from the Cargo Terminal preventing entry to both passengers and airport workers.
The students under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Students had vowed to ground the airports as part of measures to force the government to end the ongoing strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).The strike has entered its seventh month with no signs of its end.
- The students had earlier blocked major roads in the country including the Lagos-Ibadan expressway and the Ife-Ibadan Expressway.
- A horde of security operatives were also seen at the protest ground with many patrol vans stationed around.
