A Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, has broken world record of cooking marathon for 97 hours.
Named Hilda Effiong, the chef achieved the new record in the early hours of Monday at the Amore Gardens, Lekki Lagos.
The competition. known as cook-athon started on Thursday at exactly 4 pm after the restaurateur turned on her cooker.
Baci aimed to beat the 87 hours 45 minutes record set by Lata Tondon, the Indian chef who is the current Guinness World Record holder. Tondon achieved the feat in 2019.
It has been a tension soaked moment for her and Nigerians who had demonstrably supported her.
Many were cheering her up and encouraging her to push further .
Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu, visited the venue of the cooking.
Sanwo-Olu said of the event, “I showed up to support Chef Hilda Baci, in her quest to break the Guinness World Record @GWR for the longest time spent cooking by an individual.
“Her dedication, passion for cooking as well as her desire to put our rich culture on the map by not only exhibiting our food but also the resilience, determination, energy and team spirit that has come to be known as the spirit of Lagos and indeed Nigeria is truly remarkable.
