The Nigeria Judicial Council has recommended Kudirat Motonmori Kekere-Ekun as the next Chief Justice of Nigeria.
This was disclosed earlier today at the Council’s 106th meeting which began yesterday and chaired by current CJN, Olukayode Ariwoola.
As contained on the Council’s official website, Kekere-Ekun is poised to succeed the incumbent CJN whose tenure ends on Thursday 22nd August, 2024.
If appointed, Kekere-Ekun will be the second female Chief of Justice in Nigeria after Aloma Mukhtar, who served between 2012 to 2014.
The Council also recommended 27 candidates for appointment as Judges of States Courts and a candidate for appointment as Kadi of the Sharia Court in Abuja.
Kekere-Ekun was called to bar 10th July 1981after obtaining her LL.B in 1980 from the University of Lagos.
She also obtained LLM from the London School of Economic and Political Science in 1983.
