The Nigeria Labour Congress has restated its demands on conditions to be met in order to open conversations over the ongoing nationwide strike that started on Tuesday.
The NLC, in a statement on Tuesday said the arrest and prosecution of Mr. Chinasa Nwaneri Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodinma on Special Duties, is critical to the resolution of the impasse.
Among other demands, the workers organization said police officers involved in the attacks on Mr. Joe Ajaero President of the NLC in Owerri must be dismissed from the force.
The NLC also demanded identification and prosecution of all the thugs who attacked Ajaero.
Saying “our demands are simple “ the NLC said once these conditions are met, there could be peace.
NPO Reports that a nationwide strike commenced on Tuesday affer the Congress in conjunction with the Trade Union Congress asked all affiliated unions to stay away from work.
Ajaero was attacked three weeks ago in Owerri the Imo state capital during a protest against the government of Gov Uzodinma.

In a statement by the Presidency on Monday, it said that Ajaero’s presence in Imo was an error of judgement on his part adding that a court had already declared that the protests he went to Imo state for was illegal.
Ajaero had claimed that after he was arrested by policemen he was taken to an unknown destination where he was handed over to some hoodlums who beat him mercilessly.
The NLC president had emerged from his attackers with swollen eyes and bruised face.
