Uchechi Okwu-Kanu, wife of convicted leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has labelled the judgement sentencing her husband to life imprisonment as scripted.
NPO Reported that Kanu was yesterday given a life sentence after the Abuja Federal High Court was convicted of the terrorism charge filed against him by the Federal Government.
The presiding judge, Justice James Omotosho, had declared the IPOB leader guilty of all the seven counts contained in the charge against him.
While the judge had maintained that five out of the seven counts carried death sentence, he however overturned the sentence to life imprisonment.
Reacting to the development in a post on her X handle on Friday, Uchechi slammed the court’s judgement, labelling it a manufactured lie.
The IPOB leader’s wife held that she was expectant of the ruling.
“Yesterday felt unbearably long for many of us. The silence both across social media and in the streets of cities around the world was louder than any spoken words.
“It was the kind of silence that reveals truth more boldly than noise ever could.
“As expected, Injustice Omotosho delivered the familiar script, one we have come to recognize all too well.
“What was surprising, however, was how many eager hands rushed in to embellish that script, manufacturing new lies just to concoct a new name “international terrorist.” Laughable!
“At this point, it is no secret: no genuinely civilised society takes the Nigerian government seriously. I’m certain you’ve seen that clearly by now.
Truly, madness is everywhere.” She said.
Uchechi hailed her husband’s resilience in the face of the trial, describing him as an unshaken Iroko tree.
She warned of the consequences of the ruling as she boasted of Kanu’s physical and spiritual prowess.
“Yet through all this chaos, Nnamdi Kanu stands firm – an Iroko, unshaken and unmovable.
Many do not understand the depth of the human and spiritual forces that surround him.
“If they did, they would not be playing these dangerous games. In fact, if they understood even a fraction of it, they would be speaking not of labels or accusations but of the consequences their actions invite.
“Even the British government understands the gravity of this matter. Before the Supreme Court judgment in December 2023, the BBC asked me a question loaded with implications.
“My response was simple: they could try and see for themselves what would follow.
“This journey is bigger than the lies being spun, the fearmongering headlines and the desperate efforts to silence a voice that refuses to die.
“And the world is watching, no matter how loudly anyone pretends otherwise.” She added.
