The presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has described as tragic the attempts on the life of the Senator representing Anambra south Senatorial District, Ifeanyi Ubah.
Ubah’s convoy was attacked Sunday evening in Anambra State by unknown gunmen who killed some of his aides and security escorts.
The police last night confirmed the attacks but noting giving details.
Although, the exact figures of the victims were not disclosed, it was reported that some of his security aides from the Police and Department of State Services were killed, leaving many injured but Ubah was able to make it out unscathed.
Kwankwaso, in his reaction, said through a Twitter post, which read,
“The tragic attack on my brother Sen Ifeanyi Ubah, and the killing of his aides is unfortunate, unacceptable and condemnable.”
Offering his condolences to the families of the deceased and all those affected including Ubah, Kwankwaso highlighted the rate at which security issues have attained a really worrisome level.
“My thoughts are with the families of those injure and killed in the attack. I condole with Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah. May the souls of the departed find peace.”
“Security challenges in our country have climaxed to a critical stage. We shall galvanize all resources and intelligence, to tackle this menace ravaging Nigeria.” The statement said.
He also called on officials to find a solution to resolve the recurrent security challenges in the country,
“I also call on authorities to put a stop to it. We cannot fold our arms and watch as anarchy reigns.” He said.
