There is huge relief after the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency announced that no life has been lost in the Wednesday collapse of a seven storey building at the Banana Island Lagos.
On Wednesday, a seven storey building said to be under construction at the time, caved in.
According to report, an uncertain number of construction workers were said to be trapped under the rubles.
The spokesperson for the Lagos Fire Service and Rescue Service, Amodu Shakiri, confirmed the incident.
A video of the collapse seen by the NPO Reports showed that the structure came down all at once.
However, situation report on Thursday confirmed that no casualty was recorded in the incident at 1st Avenue, Banana Island, Ikoyi.
According to the report, the structure collapsed as a result of a truck that ran into the building
“Upon arrival of the LASEMA Response Team at the scene of the incident, a six storey building under construction was found to have collapsed. Information gathered revealed that the building collapsed as a result of a truck that ran into the building.
“Fortunately, no loss of life, however, efforts are ongoing to reconstruct the building to ground zero so as to forestall any secondary incident.
Recovery operations ongoing,” the report said
