The Nollywood industry has recorded another loss as veteran actor Olusegun Akinremi, popularly known as Chief Karan, dies three days to his 70th birthday.
Chief Karan’s death was announced in an Instagram post shared by movie producer Seun Oloketuyi.
According to the post, the veteran Nollywood actor died in the early hours of Friday.
“Popular actor Segun Remi popularly known as Chief Kanran died Friday morning. Details soon,” Oloketuyi wrote.
According to reports, amily sources further confirmed that the renowned thespian died in a Lagos hospital after a brief illness.
Chief Karan was famously known for his charismatic character, whose portrayal of affluent characters in Yoruba-language films and for his appearances on stage and in television productions spanned decades.
Prior to his disappearance from screen, the deceased actor had suffered personal and financial challenges in recent years.
In 2017, he reportedly lost his home and film equipment to fire incident.
