Highlights Tinubu’s Accomplishments, Ongoing Projects in Region
- Safiu Kehinde
The Presidency has on Friday dismissed claims by the New Nigerian Peoples Party’s (NNPP) 2023 Presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, that the President Bola Tinubu-led administration has neglected northern region in revenue allocation and infrastructural development.
NPO Reported that Kwankwaso had, during the public hearing of the constitution review in Kano State yesterday, accused the Federal Government of distributing federal resources to one direction in Nigeria at the detriment of other parts of the country.
He further accused the government of exploiting the northern region of its resources to develop other regions.
Reacting in a statement issued on his X handle, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, faulted Kwankwaso’s claim.
The Presidential aide claimed that Tinubu had north covered as he highlighted some federal government projects across Northern Nigeria under his administration.
Dare disclosed the ongoing projects across the north which include the Abuja-Kaduna-kano expressway, Sokoto-Badagry expressway, and the Sokoto-Zamfara-Katsina expressway.
On agriculture the presidency listed four intervention programmes and projects initiated by Tinubu administration.
The projects include $158.15m Agriculture Value Chain (VCN) Programme for nine Northern states, Kolmani Integrated Development Project (Bauchi and Gombe States), the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), and the Kano River Project (irrigation scheme).
Dare further listed medical institutions already established across northern states as well as 20 other road and highway projects.
The presidential aide also noted several intervention programmes under the several sectors which include energy and gas, rail and metro, waterways and trade corridors, as well as national programmes and institutions.
