Popular Nigerian philanthropist and Chess master, Tunde Onakoya, has celebrated the graduation of his adopted son as he recounted how he had rescued the boy while scavenging in Lagos.
As contained in post shared on his X handle on Friday, Onakoya disclosed rescuing the boy, simply identified as Sunday, five years in Lagos.
He recounted how he had enrolled him to school alongside another rescued from scavenging.
The Chess in the Slum convener disclosed writing a letter to his class teacher as he expressed concern over the likelihood of then 10-year-old Sunday struggling in class as he had no prior education.
“Five years ago, I saw him scavenging for plastic on the streets of Lagos to survive. I adopted him. Today the boy graduates with flying colors and a mind that’s ready to change the world.
“There’s truly nothing love cannot change ❤
“I remember writing this letter to the class Teacher on his first day in school because I needed her to understand the level of care and patience he’ll need.


“I was worried his learning could be a burden at the age of 10 with no prior education.” The chess master wrote.
Onakoya expressed his delight in the boy’s successful of his Junior Secondary School.

“Well done Sunday, your life is a miracle. And as you diligently write your own story, know that Uncle Tunde is forever proud of you.
Happy graduation 🎉. May the stars bear witness to your dreams.” He added.
