The Nigerian Ports Authority’s (NPA), Abubakar Dantsoho, has, appointed seven Port Managers.
Dantsoho announced the appointment yesterday in Lagos while stressing that new port managers in the country would ensure seamless operations at the ports.
The appointees include, Adebowale Lawal Ibrahim, who is to serve as Port Manager of Lagos Port Complex, and Abubakar Sani Isa, who is the Port Manager of Tin Can Island Port
Others include, Abdulrahman Hussaini, for Onne Port, Sa’adu Dahiru Mohammed, Delta Ports Warri, Ekine Ibifiri Alex for Calabar Port, Emmanuel Anda for Lekki Port, and the retained Kenechi Edith Okezie for Rivers Port.
Dantsoho said “a key role of port managers is to serve as a link between the Authority and the shipping communities”.
He further disclosed other responsibilities of the Port managers which include supervising the Terminal Operators in line with the Standard Operating Procedures as contained in the Lease Agreement with Nigerian Ports Authority; administering the operations of the Export Processing Terminals (EPT) to actualise the overriding objectives of the renewed export orientation of the Federal Government; coordinating the logistics around the Port Corridor; interfacing with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to ensure seamless entry and exit of Exports, Imports and Empty Containers from the ports, and motivating employees to work effectively and efficiently to actualise the Ports Key Performance Indicators.
