The Zamfara Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has nabbed and detained four suspects for prosecution over alleged involvement in the illegal trade of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
This was disclosed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Umar Mohammed, during his address to newsmen on Wednesday in Gusau.
According to Mohammed, the suspects were arrested in BirninMagaji and Tsafe Local Government Areas (LGA) of the state.
He said two of the suspects were arrested in BirninMagaji LGA while allegedly conveying 1,292 litters of PMS amounting to N1.4 million.
While the other two suspects were intercepted at Tsigama community as they were allegedly conveying 275 litters of PMS amounting to N324,000.
He alleged that the suspects lacked an operating license or clearance permit from the State Ministry for Security and Home Affairs to transport such a large quantity of petroleum products.
Mohammed further claimed that the suspects were en route to Tafkin Kazai and Tsigama, two security-compromised communities in Tsafe and Birnin Magaji LGAs of Zamfara.
According to him, NSCDC maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward all forms of criminality, in line with the Federal Government’s directive.
Mohammed said that the suspects would be charged in court upon the completion of investigation.
