The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi has condemned the killing of the party’s House of Assembly candidate in Imo State Christopher Eleghu.
This was as he described the incident as “targeted killing”
NPO Reports reported earlier that gunmen suspected to be hired assassins on Friday killed the Labour Party candidate for Onuimo Local Government Area in the Imo State House of Assembly, Christopher Eleghu
The assailants who struck in the early hours of Friday also said to have set Eleghu’s home ablaze and destroyed several properties.
Reacting,the former Anambra State Governor who’s also the presidential candidate of Labour Party,Peter Obi said such act violates the spirit of security, civility and the recently signed Peace Accord.
“I am deeply disturbed by the evidently targeted killing of the Labour Party State House of Assembly Candidate for Onuimo LGA in Imo state, Hon. Christopher Eleghu at his home. His house and cars were reportedly set ablaze.

“I condemn these heinous acts in the strongest possible terms. Such acts violate our spirit of security, civility, and the recently signed Peace Accord. Federal and State security agencies must work assiduously to uncover those behind this killing,” Obi reacted via his tweeter handle late Friday
The killing of Eleghu comes in few weeks after gunmen also killed LP women leader in Kaduna, Victoria Chintex.
