The 2023 Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has paid a condolence visit to the family of late former Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, in Daura, Katsina State.
NPO Reported that the former President, who died on Sunday at a London clinic, was laid to rest at his residence yesterday.
The Federal Government had in collaboration with the state government organised a state burial for Buhari with several dignitaries, led by President Bola Tinubu, paying their last respect to the former President.
Also present at the burial were opposition political leaders like former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, former Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, and his Sokoto state counterpart, Aminu Tambuwal, amongst others.
However, the absence of Obi at the burial had raised eyebrow with the subsequent discovery of his visit to the family of late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona. in Ogun state sparking controversies.
The former Anambra state governor came under fire from netizens who faulted his absence at the burial.
In the wake of the backlash, Obi paid condolence visit to the Buhari family on Wednesday.
Obi however explained the reason behind his absence while addressing newsmen.
He cited the difficulty in getting straight flight to Daura as reason behind his absence.

As captured in a post shared on X, the Labour Party presidential candidate could be seen exchanging pleasantries with former Minister of Information, Isa Pantami, before greeting Yusuf Buhari, the son of the late former President.
The former Anambra governor joined other opposition political leaders in observing the third day prayer for the late Buhari.
