The National Publicity Secretary of the Lamidi Apapa-led faction of the Labour Party, Abayomi Arabambi, has claimed that the party will not hand over its 2027 Presidential ticket to Peter Obi.
Arabambi made this known while speaking on the party’s crisis in an interview on Channels TV’s Lunchtime Politics on Monday.
As against claim of Obi being responsible for the party’s accomplishment at 2023 Presidential election which he contested for under the Labour Party, Arabambi debunked the claim, arguing that the party can exist without Obi.
“We are going to do our 2027 without Peter Obi; he will not have our ticket,” he said.
Reflecting on the 2023 election, Arabambi argued that Obi had only gathered momentum on account of the #EndSARS protest while using the Labour Party as a vehicle to achieve his ambition.
The Labour Party’s chieftain talked down the Obi’s significance in the party as he challenged him to announce his exit from the party.
“Our plan is to get rid of these elements- people who are just an epitome of political extremism. We don’t want them in Labour Party.
“Now that they said they are going to ADC, we wish them well. Obi has one leg in Labour Party, one leg in PDP, and one leg in ADC.
“If he believes he has that proficiency on his own to have seven million votes in 2027 general elections, we advise him to pronounce his departure from Labour Party.
“The momentum in 2023 was not because of Peter Obi, but because of EndSARS. Obi was just a man who came to whip as a result of Nigeria’s tiredness of the scandalous administration of Buhari during the EndSARS.
“He only found Labour Party as that vehicle that can provide that change, and he was just opportuned to be the head,” he stated.
According to report, Arabambi also took a swipe at the LP’s acting National Chairperson, Nenadi Usman and activist, Aisha Yesufu, accusing them of conniving with Obi.
