The Ogun State Police Command has reportedly nabbed the state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Abayomi Tella, and two officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), over alleged vote-buying attempt at the ongoing House of Representatives by-election.
This was disclosed in a post shared on X on Saturday.
According to the post, the INEC officials identified as Toryem Joe-Stans and Mamman Mamman, were apprehended alongside the Ogun PDP Chairman with undisclosed amount of cash.
They reportedly confessed to the police that they attempted to bribe and manipulate the House of Representatives by-election.
However, the police is yet to officially confirm the arrest of the officials as at the time of filing this report.
NPO Reported that the demise of Deputy Chief Whip, Otunba Adewunmi Onanuga, had left Remo Federal Constituency vacant.
Mrs Onanuga, until her death in the 15th of January 2025 was a second term federal lawmaker elected on the platform the All Progressives Congress to represent the three local governments of Sagamu, Ikenne and Remo North.
