Dayo Ogunde, daughter of late theatre legend, Hubert Ogunde, has lauded the emergence of women horse riders at the 2025 Ojude Oba festival.
NPO Reported that the festival which was held on Sunday at Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state, saw indigenes and dignitaries from the town showcasing their colourful traditional attires amidst spectacular horse riding.
However, the emergence of Nigerian businessman and socialite, Farooq Oreagba, who stole the show during last year’s edition with his outfit and horse inspired more horse riders at this year’s edition of the festival.
Unlike the previous editions where there was male domination of the horse riding, a notable number of women graced the occasion with horses which earned the commendation of Ogunde in a post on her Facebook page on Monday.
She lauded the boldness poise of the women horse riders and the theatrics of the scene
“This year the horse riders came in droves.
“Interestingly the women took the centre stage and owned it.
“I celebrate the elegance and strength of these women riders at the Ojude Oba.
“Bold.. Daring.. Beautiful.. Royal..
“The theatrics was a sight to behold.
“The grace and poise with which they rode was magnetic.. Una too much.” The post read.
Ojude Oba is an annual festival celebrated on every third day of the Eid-al-Adha season.
It is a glamorous event which had over the years gained both national and international recognition.
Dayo is herself a theatre production experts with years of experience having also come from the legendary Ogunde family.
The Ogundes hailed from Ososa near Ijebu Ode in Ogun state.
