Another 40-feet container has again fallen off the bridge at Ojuelegba inward stadium and currently obstructing the entire main carriage way.
As at the time of filing this report, men of the Nigerian Police Force were already on ground to maintain law and order as the machine for evacuation arrived the scene.
“A 40ft container fell off a trailer on Ojuelegba bridge inward Stadium blocking the entire main carriage way now. Diversion in progress thru the Ojuelegba service lanes.
“Men of the Nigerian Police Force are already on ground as mechanism for evacuation has arrived,” LASTMA said on Friday
It would be recalled that in January, this year no fewer than nine bus passengers were killed as a container-laden truck fell at Ojuelegba bridge in the state.
Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary, LASEMA in his report then said a truck conveying a 20ft container was found to have landed on top of a commercial bus.
“Further investigations revealed that the bus was picking up passengers when the truck lost control and fell over the side of the bridge.
“After suspending the container load with the aid of the Agency’s forklift and cutting off the top of the bus with light rescue equipment, a single adult woman was extricated alive and taken to the trauma centre.”
He added that the Nigeria Police would conduct further investigation on the removal of the barriers on the bridge aimed at preventing trucks from ascending.
