The World Trade Organisation (WTO) Director-General, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has raised alarm over a fake Artificial Intelligence video of her allegedly promoting fraudulent investment scheme to Nigerians.
Okonjo-Iweala alerted the public of the falsehood in a post shared on her X handle on Wednesday, clarifying that the video never emanated from her.
The former Nigerian Minister of Finance denied making the claims stated in the video which had been in circulation on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, stressing that she never posted anything on the mentioned platforms apart from her X handle.
She urged Nigerians to be beware of such video and information, adding that the case has been handed over to the authorities for investiagtion.
“Just alerting Nigerians. Another fake AI-manipulated video. The authorities are handling. Just wanted to alert you to be aware of this.
“As I repeatedly said, I never post anything on Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp. Anything emanating from these sources with my image is not from me. I only post on Twitter/X. I just don’t want people to be duped.” Okonjo-Iweala wrote.
Attached the post was a clip of the said video which showed the WTO boss introducing what was labelled a civil investment project to Nigerians.
As captured in the video, Okonjo-Iweala explained that every Nigerian who invest in N380,000 will receive up to 2.65 million in the first week.
