Out of Partisan Politics
Obasanjo, a two time president had claimed he is out of partisan politics.
His home in Abeokuta had hosted many political gladiators seeking his favour.
In spite of many years of political acrimony, presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Bola Tinubu, visited Obasanjo earlier in the year to seek his favour.
NPO Reports recalls that Obasanjo had warned against misinforming members of the public about he told Tinubu during their closed door meeting.
This was a fallout of a comment by the House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, who had claimed that with what he heard from the former President to Tinubu during the meeting, he was confident of Obasanjo’s support for the APC presidential candidate.
One of those who had equally visited Obasanjo is the candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
A video of Obasanjo vacating his seat for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party at a function had gone viral.
It was interpreted to mean a subtle endorsement of Obi as Nigeria’s next president.
