Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has suspended the Executive Secretary of the state’s Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Caulson Oahimire, over alleged financial infractions.
Oahimire’s suspension was contained in a statement by Umar Ikhilor, Secretary to the State Government, on Tuesday in Benin.
Pending the outcome of investigation by a special committee, Okpebholo directed the most senior staff of the agency to take over its affairs.
“The Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has ordered the immediate suspension of the Executive Secretary, Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Caulson Osoikhia Oahimire over allegations of grave financial and official infractions.
“Consequently, most senior staff of the Agency will act in functioning capacity pending the outcome of a special committee to be constituted by government to investigate the various allegations,” the statement read.
Oahimire’s suspension is the latest in Okpebholo’s fight against corrupt and sharp practices in the state’s civil service.
NPO reported that the governor had in similar version in February suspended the state’s Attorney General, Samson Osagie, alongside the chairman of the state Local Government Commission, Damian Lawani, over alleged financial infractions.
He would, however, lift the suspension of Osagie following the conclusion of investigation.
