Former Director General of the Peter Obi Campaign Organization Doyin Okupe said he has been released by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Okupe, who tweeted shortly after his release, said he was arrested in error and the commission officials apologized to him.
He wrote “ I was arrested and detained @ the MMIA, Lagos this morning, 12th Jan on my way to UK for medicals; years after my passport had been withheld by the FHC Abuja.
I just left the EFCC office where Snr Officers in Lagos & Abuja apologised to me for the error.
OCCUPATIONAL HAZZARD abi?”
NPO Reported earlier that Okupe was arrested at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja Lagos on his way to London.
Okupe said he was on his way for medical appointment.

Recall that Okupe had been sentenced to two years in jail by Justice Ijeoma Ojuwku of the Federal High Court Abuja, for accepting cash transaction above the N5 million threshold approved by the Money Laundering Act.
