Prominent Yoruba monarch, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, has arrived at the Mapo Hall for the coronation ceremony of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Abdulrasheed Ladoja.
The Alaafin arrived at the venue around 11am alongside other Oyo traditional rulers.
Oba Owoade’s presence was announced by the Alaafin palace trumpeter and other entourage.
The Oyo monarch will be joining other prominent monarchs in Nigeria at the event.
Ahead of the coronation, the Sultan of Sokoto and co-chairman of National Traditional Rulers Council of Nigeria (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, arrived in Ibadan yesterday.
The coronation ceremony had also seen the arrival of political figures at the Mapo Hall with Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu, also expected to attend the event.
Some of the pther traditional rulers and dignitaries currently present at the Mapo Hall include Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Ọlaoye; former Ogun State governor Ibikunle Amosun; and the Chief Imam of Ibadan.
