Former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Iyiola Omisore, has ordered his supporters to boycott the party’s Osun governorship primary election slated for December 13.
This is coming under the heels of the former Osun Deputy Governor’s disqualification from the party primaries ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election in the state.
NPO Reported that Omisore was alongside six other aspirants disqualified from contesting in the primaries by the APC Screening Committee.
The ex-Osun Deputy Governor and the other disqualified aspirants were reportedly barred from the poll over gaps in their nomination documents.
Having described his disqualification as the biggest joke of the year with the panel accused of partisanship, Omisore would in a Caveat Emptor issued by the Ajibola Famurewa, the Director-General of his support group, Osun Rescue Mission, directed his supporters to boycott the priamries.
The group also extended the boycott to supporters of other excluded aspirant as Famurewa noted that screening appeal committee is yet to release its report.
The Omisore support group leader charged the members to stay away from what it described as fraudulent, undemocratic exercise, and promotion of alleged plot by the immediate past governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola, to cause disaffection within the party.
The statement read; I WISH TO INFORM ALL THE TEAMING ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS PARTY MEN AND WOMEN MOST ESPECIALLY LOVERS OF DEMOCRACY AND PARTICULARLY SUPPORTERS OF ALL EXCLUDED ASPIRANTS FOR THE DECEMBER 13th GOVERNORSHIP PRIMARIES IN OSUN STATE THAT THE SLATED DELEGATES PRIMARY ELECTION SLATED FOR THE 9th DECEMBER IS UNDEMOCRATIC AND THEREFORE SHOULD BE BOYCOTTED BY ALL AND SUNDRY.
“THIS IS BECAUSE SINCE THE SCREENING APPEAL COMMITTEE HAS NOT RELEASED ITS REPORT WHICH SHOULD OPEN THE DOOR FOR THE DELEGATES ELECTION, THE CONTROVERSIAL DELEGATE ELECTION WILL JUST BE AN ATTEMPT TO TETUN A PRO AMBO SUPPORTERS AND DELEGATES AT THE EXPENSE OF OTHERS.
“THEREFORE, THE CAMP OF SENATOR IYIOLA OMISORE WISHES TO ADVISE OUR SUPPORTERS TO STAY AWAY FROM THE SEEMINGLY FRAUDULENT AND UNDEMOCRATIC EXERCISE IN ORDER NOT TO BE A PROMOTER AND SUPPORTER OF MR GBOYEGA OYETOLA’S PLOY TO CAUSE DISAFFECTION THAT COULD LEAD OUR PARTY TO FAILURE AT THE POLL COME AUGUST 8th 2026.
