Former Nigeria. President, Muhammadu Buhari, has said that the President Bola Tinubu-led administration must avert allowing his reforms to fall victim of domestic politics.
Buhari gave the advice in a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu.
Congratulating his successor over his two years in office, Buhari warned that necessary reforms and desired changes must not fall victim to nettlesome domestic politics.
He however expressed support for the ongoing efforts by the administration to curb poverty and inflation, stressing that they have hit the poorest families the hardest.
The ex-President however maintained that the task of reducing poverty and inflation, which is immense, must not be left only for the government.
“The private sector and all of us as citizens must join in all ways we can. He said.
Buhari urged Nigerians to remain optimistic and stay confident about the country’s future.
“Our expectations from our governments should not get heavy,” President Buhari said in the conclusion of his message.
“I am wishing President Tinubu heartfelt congratulations on his two years in office. May you keep leading with wisdom and care.” he added.
Tinubu succeeded Buhari in 2023 after an eight years of administration.
Tinubu will clock two years in the saddle on Thursday May 29, getting to the mid-term of his administration.
Buhari is one of the first to have spoken on the occasion of the second year anniversary of the Tinubu government.
Already, the President has arrived in Lagos where he is attending the 50th anniversary of the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS).
He is also billed to commission a number of projects physically and virtually in different parts of the country.
