The Ondo State Security Network, also known as Amotekun Corps, has arrested one of the prime suspects behind the killing of Hon. Nelson Adepoyigi, an All Progressives Congress (APC) ward chairman in Ose Local Government Area.
NPO Reported that Adepoyigi was abducted by unknown gunmen from his house along Ifon-Owo road and later killed after his family paid a ransom.
The prime suspect was paraded alongside 31 other suspects arrested by the Amotekun Corps over various crimes across the state.
Addressing newsmen during the parade of the suspects on Tuesday, the Ondo Amotekun Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, recounted how the 32 suspects, including the one of the suspected killers of the APC LG Chairman were arrested.
He disclosed that the prime suspect took the security team to a forest where items belonging to the victim’s family were found.
“These 32 suspects were arrested across the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo state for infringement of the existing laws.
“Again, one of the prime suspects of the killing of a ward chairman has been arrested. He has confessed and take us back to the forest where we retrieved some of the items they tool from their families.” Adeleye said.
The prime suspect also reporedy led the security operativesto the site where Adepoyigi’s body was dumped, and the remains have been handed over to his relatives.
Some of the other 31 suspects were reportedly arrested in forests in Ute-Owo, Jugbere, and Ipele, all within Owo Local Government Area.
Among those arrested are several young men between the ages of 18 and 45, who are being investigated for kidnapping and other offences.
