One person has been killed in violent clash between suspected hoodlums, also known as area boys, at Mandillas market, Lagos Island.
The clash which occurred on Wednesday disrupted activities at the busy market as people were seen scampering for safety.
As captured in series of videos shared on X, some of the suspected hoodlums attacked themselves with knives and other harmful objects.
The mayhem had led to the death of a yet-to-be identified man who died from the stab wound he sustained during the attack.
Another video showed a man repeatedly stabbed by one of the hoodlums, leaving onlookers in shock.
However, some X posts claimed the fight started over settlement dispute between a Yoruba man and an Igbo trader.
The Yoruba man had allegedly brought a customer for the Igbo trader and returned moments later for his settlement.
Argument would ensue between the duo following the return of the Yoruba man.
This led allegedly led to the clash between the duo with the Yoruba man stabbed and later confirmed dead after being rushed to the hospital.
His death was reported to have sparked outrage from his colleagues, leading to the mayhem.
The Police is however yet to confirm the incident as at the time of filing this report.
