An aide to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday, disowned a television guest analyst, Olugbenga Olaoye as speaking for his boss.
Olaoye had appeared on Arise TV programme Tuesday morning where he posed as speaking on behalf of a movement in support of Osinbajo.
His appearance came shortly after the Vice President declared his intention to run for the presidency on Monday.
Olaoye was paired with a former governorship candidate in Rivers State, Magnus Abe during the live TV programme.
However, some of the views expressed by Olaoye were said not to have gone down well with the camp of the vice president.
The office of Osinbajo was said to have been inundated with calls from in and outside Nigeria by people who were miffed by his responses.
This was said to have prompted the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu to issue a statement on Wednesday cautioning media houses to screen their guests to be sure they are truly representatives of those they claim they speak for.
Akande, while dismissing Olaoye in a tweet on Wednesday, wrote, “Indeed this gentleman does not represent the VP nor the Office. His views are completely & totally his own. This particular opinion he has expressed on TV is deplorable and in bad taste. I am not even aware of the so-called Osinbajo Think Tank he purports to represent. Please, ignore!
“Just so we are clear, the gentleman is Olugbenga Olaoye who was a guest on AriseTV Morning Show yesterday morning.”
