The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, on the celebration of the 2025 Olojo Festival.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi on behalf of the state chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Olaniyi Lawal.
The Osun APC Chairman emphasized that the Olojo Festival is far more than just a celebration, it serves as a divine reminder of the moment when “day became day” (Ojo ti Ojo di Ojo) thus underscoring Ile-Ife’s unwavering position as the cornerstone of Yoruba civilization.
Lawal referred to Olojo as a festival of destiny, representing spiritual renewal, the victory of light over darkness and a gathering point for all true sons and daughters of Oduduwa around the globe.
He pointed out that the annual Olojo Festival is a demonstration of the collective heritage of the Yoruba people and a reminder to our history.
“The Olojo Festival transcends mere entertainment; it embodies the pride of our people, affirms our history, and guides our future.
“Ile-Ife is not just another town; it is the throne room of creation and the essence of Yoruba identity.
“As a political party, we, in Osun APC, understand the importance of the Olojo Festival in the collective history of the Yoruba people both in Nigeria and in the diaspora.” Lawal said.
The Osun APC also extended a congratulatory message to the Osogun of Ife, High Chief Oladapo Olafiranye and all the guardians of tradition who have worked tirelessly to preserve the authenticity of Olojo amidst modern challenges.
The party called on the global Yoruba community to rally behind the Ooni, who stands as a beacon of peace, cultural diplomacy, and global black consciousness.
While celebrating with the people of Ile-Ife, both at home and abroad, Lawal emphasized the APC’s dedication to policies that will safeguard cultural heritage, enhance Yoruba identity and elevate Osun State as a prominent spiritual and cultural hub in Africa.
