Former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye, has ruled out chances of the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, returning to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that the party’s governorship ticket is not for sale to him and his family.
NPO Reported that the governor’s visit to President Bola Tinubu alongside his brother, Deji Adeleke, and nephew, Davido, on Tuesday had stirred unease and concern amongst the Osun APC governorship aspirants ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election.
Allaying the concern during a Press Conference on Wednesday, Owoeye affirmed that Adeleke is not welcomed in the party.
The APC Chieftain claimed that Adeleke’s recent moves and alleged intention to return to the party were borne out of his fear of the unknown.
“APC Ticket not for Sale. As a matter of fact, as at today, we don’t see Adeleke as member or part of APC as a party. Let me be sincere with you, the APC in Osun state remain a party to beat and I want to tell you that if not because of the fear of the unknown that is disturbing Adeleke family and the PDP, they wouldn’t have shown intention of coming to the APC.
“And we have been saying this times without number that APC are fully on ground in Osun.” Owoeye said.
However, NPO Reported the dismissal of reports suggesting Adeleke’s likely defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.
Olawale had in a statement issued yesterday reiterated that the governor remains a bonafide member of the PDP.
The governor’s aide faulted media speculations, labelling the reports as fake news.
He added that the Governor’s visit to Tinubu was a routine courtesy visit.
“The media speculation about likely or imminent defection is fake news. Governor Adeleke remains a member and leader of the PDP in Osun state.
“The visit by the Adeleke dynasty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a routine courtesy visit. Any reading of defection agenda into the visit is mere fake news.” Rasheed clarified.
