The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to the state’s commissioners’ support of the speculated plan of Governor Ademola Adeleke to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
NPO earlier Reported that the commissioners had, in a communique issued on Wednesday, pledged their allegiance to the state governor, expressing their readiness to continue working with him regardless of his possible defection to the APC.
While reiterating their commitment to the people of Osun state, the commissioners held that Adeleke remains the most credible driver of the developmental vision they all share as they pledged to follow the leading of the governor.
They added that they are alignment with Adeleke’s ongoing consultations as they assured him of their support.
Reacting to the development in a chat with NPO Reports correspondent, the Osun APC spokesman, Kola Olabisi, acknowledged the constitutional liberty of the commissioners to express themselves.
Olabisi reiterated that Adeleke alleged defection largely remains a rumour.
He explained that there is laid down rules and regulations for individuals who intend to join the party.
“One cannot take away the constitutional liberty of the said commissioners to express themselves as long as such is not injurious to anyone.
“Be that as it may, the members of the public should not lose sight of the fact that we had earlier stated that the purported or intended defection of the Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is still within the realm of speculation or rumour as there is a constitutional laid down rules and regulations required to be fulfilled by anyone who is aspiring to join our party.
“The rules and regulations are there as a guide for anyone who is joining. It is not the style of our party to honour hypothetical questions.” he said.
As regards the party’s possible line of action if Adeleke eventually defects to the APC, Olabisi held that the party will devise an acceptable way to overcome the hurdle.
“What is crystal clear is that when we get to the river, we shall devise an acceptable way to cross it.” He added.
