Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has suspended former governor and ex-Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, over alleged anti-party activities.
The, suspension came on heels of a pending outcome of disciplinary proceedings initiated by the state’s party leadership.
Aregbesola was accused of involvement in actions that undermined the APC by the Ilesa East Local Government APC Executive Committee.
The committee had, in a letter, claimed Aregbesola was promoting factionalism and colluding with opposition parties, among other allegations.
Meanwhile, the State Disciplinary Committee constituted by Osun State Exco has written to Aregbesola, requesting a formal response to ensure due process in accordance with the party’s constitution.
According to reports, sources close to Aregbesola claimed the allegations and suspension were politically motivated and a premeditated attempt by the party’s leadership in the state to remove the former governor from the APC.
