Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has dismissed rumours of defection as he maintained that the state remains under the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) administration.
This is coming under the heels of the mass defection of all PDP’s stakeholders in Delta State to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
NPO Reported that the PDP members, including elected officials led by the state governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, had last week dumped the opposition party for the ruling party.
In what sent shock wave to the PDP camp, the defectors were officially received by the APC at Asaba on Monday, with Oborevwori claiming that more PDP Governors will still join the APC.
This had sparked controversies with attention on the remaining PDP governors including Adeleke.
However, the Osun governor, at recent event publicly declared that the state remains a PDP state.
As captured in video shared on X on Wednesday, Adeleke allayed concern over the fate of the party in the state.
He charged the crowd comprising majorly of women, whom he addressed in Yoruba, to inform others that his administration is not joining the APC.
“I want you Osun women to tell all and sundry that we are in PDP party.” Adeleke said, gearing the women who bursted into solidarity song for the governor.
“All those rumours flying around, there is nothing of such here in Osun. We are PDP and PDP is doing well in the state. So, tell anyone who cares to listen that we are going nowhere.” Adeleke added.
