Former Attorney General of the Federation, Mike Aondoakaa, has condemned the disobedience of court ruling by the sacked Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Chairmen, alongside the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Accountant General of the Federation.
Aondoakaa, in an interview on Arise TV on Tuesday, also faulted the Federal Government for unlawfully withholding funds belonging to Osun State Local Governments, only to allegedly release them to the sacked APC chairmen, in clear violation of judicial pronouncements.
“The matter is prejudice and subjudice. Both parties supposed to show restraints.
“I do not know the circumstances in which the Federal Government went ahead to pay. They were properly removed by court order.” He said.
The ex-AGF warned that such actions represent a dangerous disregard for the rule of law and a direct assault on democratic governance.
He stressed that court orders must be respected at all times, warning that selective obedience undermines justice and erodes public trust in Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
The former Attorney General also noted that withholding and misdirecting funds meant for Local Governments is a grave injustice to the people at the grassroots, who depend on these resources for development, infrastructure, and improved welfare
