Osun Senator, Ajibola Basiru Denies Testing Positive For Coronavírus

Senator Ajibola Basiru representing Osun Central in the National Assembly, has debunked being Osun State index case of coronavirus.

Osun State recorded the first case of the dreaded virus on Wednesday.

Basiru in a phone interview on a programme, "Frank Talk" on Rave FM Osogbo said he is hale and hearty, and that he had only self-isolated himself due to his recent trip to the UK.

The senator who said rumours has taken over the "unfortunate development", urged Nigerians to be careful about the impact of misinformation at this delicate period.

Basiru also said the President Muhammadu Buhari does not need to address Nigerians as the relevant offices are already doing so.

“For God sake the president is not the public relation officer for the country. This is a sensitive issue, the fact that you are a president does not make you the wisest man on earth or the expert in everything,” he added.

Bashiru argued it was needless for the president to address the nation since the Minister of Information Lai Mohammed, Minister of Health and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control are providing regular updates.

“What do you want the president to say? What information do you need that is not available on the NTA or NCDC website?,” Bashiru queried.
