Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has charged political leaders and stakeholders to remain steadfast in the work towards the betterment of Nigeria.
Obasanjo gave the charge during his address at the public presentation of the the autobiography of former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, titled “Being True to Myself”
NPO Reports that the ex- President had arrived at the event held on Tuesday at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Centre, Abuja, alongside other political dignitaries including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Speaking at the event, Obasanjo urged Lamido to shelve the idea of retiring from active engagement in efforts that would help to birth a new nation.
He maintained that the nation has not gotten to its destination and it required the collective effort of all stakeholders to get there.
“Nigeria that we are working for, we haven’t gotten there. And I believe it is the responsibility of each of us to ensure that we get there. Our job is not finished until we are finished,” Obasanjo said.
Lamido’s autobiography was reviewed by former Senate President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.
In attendance at the event were Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya; Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, and Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State.
Also present were Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, former Vice President, Namadi Sambo; and 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, amongst others.
