Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy and daughter of Nigerian billionaire, Femi Otedola, has claimed that the mind is human’s greatest critic.
DJ Cuppy made this proposition in a TikTok video where she talked about her challenge ahead of her return to school for another degree.
Despite already having three degrees which she flaunted in the video, she applied for another as she expressed her love for learning.
She, however, decried the decline in assimilation capacity due to age, which was a discouraging factor when applying for the degree.
“I already have three degrees, but I love learning. The University I’m applying to is obviously well very academically demanding and the application is pretty rigorous.
“And I just felt like quite discouraged. I’m 31 now. My brain doesn’t work like it used to. I was looking at the prerequisite readings and I was like how am I gonna do this?
“Then I realized I’ve done it before and I can do it again! And one of the things I wanted to share because I know that a lot of people often don’t execute.
“We have the dreams and visions but we don’t do it because our mind is our biggest critique.” She said.
DJ Cuppy further recalled how she had felt similar discouragement when applying for her previous degrees, but she overcame them.
She, however, attributed how she overcame the discouragement to change in pattern.
“…one of the things I’m trying to work on is patterns. A lot of people have said they’ve seen a big change in me. And yeah it’s because I don’t focus on the problem I have. I focus on the patterns that I create.
“When you focus on changing patterns, they solve your problems. So if your pattern is your mind playing tricks on you like discouraging you from going for something, then you need to work on the pattern.
“So I refuse to let my mind or anything in my vicinity or environment tell me that I can not get a fourth degree. If I want it, I got it!” She added.
