The Chairman of the Edo State All Progressives Congress Chapter, Jarret Tenebe, has come under fire over video of him offering a death wish prayer on those against the chapter’s targeted 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the forthcoming 2027 Presidential Election.
Tenebe had in a now viral video wished death to members of the opposition parties as he prayed that whoever stands against their goal to secure 2.5 million votes for Tinubu in the state will be killed with AK-47.
‘Anybody who wants to be an obstacle for us, I have a prayer for you and that prayer is special prayer. If you evoke Holy Ghost power, it is more.
‘But is evoke general-purpose machine gun power, it is lighter. So, anybody who refuse and want to stand on our way for us not to have those votes that we intend to give to Mr. President, AK-47, fire. ‘The Edo APC Chairman said.
This had sparked outrage from netizens who condemned Tenebe while calling out the APC over the threatening prayer.
Some called the attention of the international communities to the perceived threat against opposition members in Nigeria, accusing the APC of inciting violence ahead of the election.
‘I sincerely hope the international community, and everyone concerned will take notice of these concerns and continue to observe developments in Nigeria. Every citizen should be able to express their political views and participate in elections freely and without fear. Thank you.’ @henry_agu5050
‘This is one thing about precedence When Oluomo openly threatened last time, if he was severely punished, all these charlatans now openly declaring violence on opposition will think twice We lack consequences as a society and it will be the biggest contributor to our downfall’ @adesegs11
‘Police and DSS will form deaf ears. Threatening opposition with AK 47? You are as well telling the opposition to get their AK 47 ready too. Funny this is that this man and his family will not be on ground but in their houses with security men.’ @JESPAT8000
‘What I have noticed is that under Tinubu, public office holders now make very reckless statements both for the sake of clout and in keeping in line with Tinubu’s kind of politics’ @collinsajuk
‘He will come out tomorrow to say he didn’t mean it that way and the matter will be forgotten like the idiots before him.’ @Lottydon1
‘Nigeria is a country without consequences. Imagine saying this in a nation that works, you’d be answering to the authorities immediately you get down from the stage.’ @_terieyenike
‘Why should the law enforcement officers hesitate to reign in this one. He is clearly instigating violence and should be brought to book.’ @ChiedozieUgbec1
‘IG of police will soon come out and say he was only joking. We saw same script play out in Lagos in 2023 with MC Oluomo as he threatened citizens , police spokesman said he was only joking and we saw what happened on election day as voter were attacked, maimed with loss of lives. Now a rest. We will yet destroy this hard earned democracy with our hands.’ @eugeneonwuka6
‘This idiot has been making these threats repeatedly but DSS and the police looked away. I pity una. If I put body for politics, I will do worst than them. Nobody get monopoly of madness’ @bangerxtruth
