There is ‘war’ within the Redeemed Christian Church of God as many members are calling for the head of the son of the General Overseer, Pastor Leke Adeboye after he allegedly called other pastors “goats.”
In an instagram post, the younger Adeboye was said to have insulted the pastors for conducting any other sermon after that of his father, the General Overseer, Pastor Enorch Adeboye at the last monthly thanksgiving service.
He had written ““Why would you go and preach another sermon after, Daddy GO has just finished speaking and preaching. You are not a son, you are a goat sir. Next Thanksgiving service, just do altar call, then Thanksgiving.”
Although opinions are divided over what should happen, many members are saying Pastor Leke Adeboye has to resign or at least be suspended for using such words.
On Instagram on Wednesday, a church member with the handle b.oghens while reacting to a poster announcing a zoom meeting by the younger Adeboye told him not to proceed with the zoom unless he apologises to the entire RCCG family.
“@lekeadeboye, u should not hold this zoom meeting until an apology is tender to the Entire RCCG pastors and d entire RCCG FAMILY. Perhaps you should consider resigning ur position as a pastor. The last time I checked, your father is d one God called and u were appointed. As a member and minister in RCCG, I’m ashamed of ur rude behavior and arrogance. The death that took pastor D is quite unfortunate. These attitudes and arrogance behavior were never found in pastor D. U have constantly brought noise to d RCCG family and ur immediate family. Leke Adeboye kindly resign ur office.”
However, another member of the church Olusola Opeyemi, while reacting on the matter said, “With this level of venom and poison I’m seeing you guys unleashing on Pastor Leke Adeboye, I hope his dad is actually not your target and you are just disguising. See, if you truly honour me, even if my driver says a thing you don’t like, you don’t let loosed hell. You trust me enough to handle it. That is true honour! How much more my child. By the way, Leke is doing a lot for the expansion of God’s Kingdom, and I mean a whole lot. Is he perfect? Well, the question should be I’m I perfect? Are you? Is it as bad as some of you portray it? Not even up to 1% of the things I see you guys unleashed. So you guys should just calm down. Okay? Just calm down!”
Another responder, Martin White-Ufuah, wrote “For whatever reason, this young man, Leke, is always on the news mostly for the wrong reasons. It’s important we address this issue not because Leke unwholesome speech carries any weight.
But because there are Christians who are already justifying his abusive language. As long as it is coming from Pastor Adeboye or Bishop Oyedepo’s son, there are pastors and Christians who will adopt the approach and start calling other Christians and ministers goat.
When Bishop Oyedepo’s son buried copies of the Bible in the pillars of the church building, pastors here were either mute or justifying it.
In Scripture, the Lord calls us his sheep. No where in Scripture were Christians addressed as goats. Calling a Christian and minister a goat is reprehensible.
The young man, whom I learnt is a senior personal assistant to the church/G.O should retract his statement and apologize.
This is the kind that Daddy Freeze uttered against Bishop Oyedepo that we all rose to condemn. Calling a pastor a goat for whatever reason is extreme and carnal. In scripture, Leke’s utterance is called foul and abusive.”
