The real owner of some drugs that an airport operative attempted to smuggle into the luggage of a passenger at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport has been caught.
The man, who is said to have confessed to being the owner said he wanted to get the substances to Ghana using any available methods.
NPO Reports that a passenger had discovered that a substance was being inserted into his luggage while on his way to Accra Ghana last Wednesday.
The angry passenger was seen in a now viral video slapping the airport official.
Preliminary findings by the NDLEA showed the parcel contained 50 pills of tramadol 225mg concealed in a bottle of dietary supplements.
A follow up operation by the Agency led to the arrest of the owner of the illicit drug, Okosun Paul Punnit.
Punnit was immediately arrested by operatives of the NDLEA upon his return to Nigeria on January 19, 2024.
Confirming the development, the Director of Media and Advocacy of the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, said Punnit has in his statement confirmed ownership of the drug.
NDLEA had given the name Of the staff as Ajuzieogu Mac-Elvis Ugochukwu, working with Pathfinder International Limited.
