Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has threatened to take action against some of his political appointees over their failure to defend his administration when under attack on social media.
Oyebanji made this known while speaking on the need to seize the social media at a recent event.
As captured in a video shared in X on Saturday, the governor called out his aides who, according to him, are earning from his administration but keep quite on their respective social media platforms when the administration comes under fire.
While noting that only few of them stand in defense of the administration when under attack, Oyebanji held that he is currently marking out the lenient ones and will take necessary action soon.
“We need to seize the social media space. It’s not that they are winning the battle, but some of even my political appointees, because they are eating from both sides, they cannot even come out and defend the government. I’m telling you, very few of them.
“They will be on platforms where they are attacking us and keep mute. The won’t be able to talk and they are collecting salaries every month.
“I’m marking them one by one. I’m not going to talk now but be rest assured that those of that are platform where they are dragging us and you kept quiet and you are collecting money from this administration, we will come back to you at the appropriate time.” He said.
NPO Reported speculations of uncertainties surrounding the governor’s second term bid under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that Oyebanji had earlier this month sacked some members of the State Executive Council which include commissioners and his political appointees.
This, according to human rights activist, Isaac Fayose, was borne out of his meeting with President Bola Tinubu where he was allegedly instructed to get rid of all appointees recommended to him by his predecessor, Kayode Fayemi.
His relationship with Fayemi, whose ties with the APC is currently severed with his involvement in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition party, has rubbed off on Oyebanji as the APC tend to have lost trust in him.
