Says Journey Has Begun

Oyo State House of Assembly Speaker, Debo Ogundoyin, has declared interest in the 2027 Governorship election in the state.
Ogundoyin made the declaration at the zonal meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibarapa.
As disclosed in a statement issued on his X handle on Sunday, the Oyo Speaker revealed meeting with leaders and stakeholders of the party at the zone to make his intention known.
He maintained that his declaration of interest in the governorship race was borne out of collective yearning and not personal interest.
“Leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across Ibarapaland, at our zonal meeting today, made a clear and compelling call for me to throw my hat in the ring for the 2027 Governorship election in Oyo State.
“In direct response to this, I have formally declared my intention to contest. This decision goes beyond personal ambition.

“It is a responsibility shaped by the collective yearning of our people for focused, inclusive, and result-driven leadership.” He said.
While expressing gratitude to the party leaders and stakeholders for their support, Ogundoyin declared that the journey for the governorship race has begun as disclosed also receiving the endorsement of stakeholders from his constituency, Eruwa, Ibarapa East Local Government.
“I am grateful for the confidence reposed in me, and I accept this responsibility with a clear understanding of the demands ahead and an unwavering commitment to serve with integrity and purpose.

“I also met with stakeholders in my constituency, Eruwa, Ibarapa East Local Government, where the message was equally firm and aligned.
“Across board, the position is clear, our people are ready, and the moment is now. This is a defining step. The journey has begun.” He added.
