There is an ongoing pandemonium at the Alaba Market Lagos as traders and motor park touts are said to have engaged in fight.
Some shops according to some claims, have been set on fire while some looting have taken place.
Some traders could be seen running up and down to stop the fire while some of the touts were seen also running.
The scenario looked like overwhelming for security men.
The fight was said to have been precipitated by the increasing activities of street urchins popularly called Area Boys who allegedly have been terrorizing the traders.
Efforts to speak with the police at the time of filing this report were unsuccessful as the Spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin, was unreachable.
However, the police spokesman later broke his silence via a tweet assuring that normalcy has been restored in the area.
He however did not state what the cause of the mayhem was and whether arrests were made.
He wrote, “Alaba International Market is calm. Normalcy has been restored. Rapid Response Squad and men of Ojo Division are on ground, under the supervision of Area Commander Festac, ACP Igbafe Afegbai. There is no cause for alarm as monitoring continues.”
