A fire outbreak has gutted a petrol station along Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way, off Iju road, Lagos.
The incident which occurred around 5:00pm on Wednesday had left many residents in state of panic.
As captured in a video made available to NPO Report, thick black smoke could be seen emanating from the fuel station.
It was gathered that a fuel tanker was discharging product for the station, said to be Optima Fuel station, when the tanker exploded.
Eyewitness accounts said the explosion was so loud that many residents in the nearby houses and shops ran for their lives.
Around the filling station which also houses a mini supermarket are a pharmacy and supermarket, and a multi-storey building under construction.
Officials of the Lagos State Fire Service had since arrived at the scene of the incident.
It could not be ascertained if there were casualties as at the time of filing this report
