Scores of passengers have been thrown into panic with some captured speaking tongues as a Lagos-Kano bound Air Peace plane suffered drop during an extreme turbulence.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday with one of the passengers recording the video which was posted on X on Thursday.
The passenger, identified by his Instagram handle as Adegbenga Olusegun, narrated how they were stranded in the air for three hours for a journey which normally take less than one and half hour.
Olusegun, who is in the flight with his wife, disclosed that heavy rainfall prevented the fight from landing in Kano, forcing the pilot to return to Lagos.
‘Yesterday’s flight from Lagos to Kano turned into a terrifying experience. What should have been a 1-hour-15-minute journey became about 3 hours and 30 minutes in the air.
‘Heavy rain prevented us from landing in Kano, and with many runway lights reportedly going off, the pilot had to turn back to Lagos.’ He said.
The drop was experienced while returning to Lagos with two passengers reportedly fainting while three others soaked themselves.
‘On the way back, the aircraft suddenly dropped and experienced extremely violent turbulence. People screamed and prayed.
‘Two passengers reportedly fainted, while about three others lost control of their bladders. What started as laughter quickly turned into fear and prayers.’ He said.
Video attached to the post showed the visibly terrified wife of Olusegun clinging on her husband as other Christian passengers could be heard speaking in tongues.
Fortunately, the plane landed safely back in Lagos with the passengers evacuated.
‘Thankfully, we eventually landed safely in Lagos. The experience was a powerful reminder that life is precious, and sometimes we have no choice but to surrender and trust God.’ Olusegun added.
Subsequent clip showed the now relieved passengers expressing gratitude to God for averting what would have been a disaster in the aviation sector.
