The Presidential Candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Tuesday accused the ruling All Progressive Congress and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party of failing Nigerians in all facets of life.
Kwankwaso stated this today, during the Stakeholders meeting in the Maritime sector in Lagos
He said Maritime is a critical sector for the growth and survival of Nigeria as a nation lamenting however that the government of the day is not looking in that direction.
The former Defence Minister said the high level of corruption in the system has made it impossible for the sector to grow as expected.
“I may not be fully involved in maritime nitty-gritty but with my experience so far,I can understand certain things in the sector. “Maritime is a critical element for the growth and survival of Nigeria as a Nation.
“So many things have gone wrong in the industry. The current Apapa Cargo Airport is at the stage that is highly unacceptable.”
The Former Kano Governor promised to tackle the challenges facing the industry if elected as Nigeria’s president next year.
“The high level of corruption in the industry must be tackled to improve the credibility and sustainability of the system.
“Viability and Integrity of the sector will be restored under our party and government. NNPP has a blue print of the economy, maritime sector inclusive.
“Our government will look into construction of rail line both from Apapa to dry port areas in Lagos to reduce heavy trucks causing gridlocks in Lagos.
“In order to decongest Lagos port, we will look into the possibility of opening other ports such as Warri, Porthacourt and Calabar.
“I want to assure you that it won’t be business as usual. Under our watch, maritime professionals will take charge of the maritime sector,” he added
He urged the Stakeholders present and general public to do away with both APC and PDP with the claims that both parties don’t have the interest of the public in their agenda.
