The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed a nine-man caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of the Abia State chapter of the party.
This was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong.
According to the statement, the committee was constituted by the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) on behalf of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
The committee, chaired by Ikpeazu Emeka-Yellow, has the likes of Ochiobi Chukwuemeka, Gladys Okoro, Chijindu Kalu, and Samuel Chukwudi, as members.
Other members include Seth Agomuo, Ugo Kalu, Obinna Nwaogwugwu, and Felix Nwagbara who will serve as the secretary of the committee.
The PDP noted that the committee is charged with the responsibility of running the affairs of the Party in Abia State, as stipulated in Section 21(2)(a-b) of the party’s Constitution for a period not exceeding 90days or till such a time a new executive shall be elected.
In carrying out this assignment, the members are to be guided strictly by the PDP Constitution (2025, as amended), the Electoral Act, 2022 and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended.
